Penicillium chrysogenum, a species of fungus in the genus Penicillium, is one of eight types of dangerous fungi found in the Kowalski's apartment. More common in temperate and subtropical regions, it also breeds in particularly damp or water-damaged buildings. When tested by officials, the flat exceeded the mycotic standard by 700%.
