Like most girls her age, Claudia (9) spends part of her evening doing homework. Until two years ago, this was impossible: the Stoicheciu family’s home is not connected to the power grid. Only since an NGO installed a solar panel on the roof have they had electricity. Some estimates suggest that up to 100 000 Romanian households, primarily in rural areas, are not connected to the electricity grid.
