Atidzhe's house is not insulated, and the old, wooden single-pane windows leak warmth. Hot water for washing dishes comes from a kettle on the stove. Even though she lives in just two small rooms of her house during winter, she spends €200 for wood each year - while living on a monthly pension of just €120.
